Big Changes on the CPCB EPR Portal: What Every Business Must Know

If you handle waste compliance for your company, there is important news for you. The CPCB EPR portal has gone through a major change in 2026. The Central Pollution Control Board has merged all its separate waste portals into one single system. This new system is called the EPR Common portal: epr.cpcb.gov.in.

Let us understand what has changed.

One Login for Everything

Earlier, if your company dealt with plastic packaging, e-waste and batteries, you needed three different user IDs and different passwords for each. Every portal worked in its own way. Keeping track of all this was a big headache.

Now CPCB has fixed this problem. The new SSO EPR portal uses a system called Single Sign-On (SSO). SSO refers to one ID, one password, and access to everything.

Every registered business now gets a Common EPR ID (CEPR ID). With this one ID, you can open all the waste streams that apply to your company:

• Plastic Packaging

• E-Waste

• Battery Waste

• Waste Tyres

• Used Oil

So instead of remembering five logins, you remember one.

The Old Plastic Portal is Now Closed

Here is another update that affects the most businesses. The old EPR plastic portal was shut down on 28 June 2026 and is no longer operational.

All data of registered users has been moved to the new CPCB EPR registration portal. This includes your company details, your EPR targets, your past returns, and your certificates.

To be careful and get accurate data, log in and check your details carefully:

• Company name, PAN and GST details

• Authorised person's name and contact number

• Your plastic packaging categories

• Your EPR targets and last year's data

• Your old certificates and return filings

If something looks out of place, report it through the portal itself. 

Remember, that the recent updates are only a change in the website. It is not a change in the law or compliances for that matter.

The rules under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended) still apply exactly as before. Your recycling targets, your recycled content requirement, your record keeping and your annual return filing all continue as usual. 

Certificate Trading is Now Going Digital

CPCB is also running an electronic trading platform for EPR certificates. Buying and selling of certificates now happens inside the system instead of through private deals. This brings better price transparency and a proper record of every transaction.

For EPR Certificate Download, you now go to the common portal, open the relevant waste stream, and download from your dashboard.

What Should You Do Now?

If you are already registered, log in soon and check your migrated data. If you are a new business, complete your CPCB EPR Registration directly through the common portal. 

Log in easily, check your data, and stay stress-free during filing season with efficient filing due to digitalization of the portal.
