Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are entities which are involved in the production, manufacturing, processing, trading and service sectors and these entities are classified on the basis of their investment in plant and machinery or equipment, and annual turnover.
The concept MSME was first introduced by the government of India through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. MSME registration is known to be a government initiative which provides legal recognition for small businesses by enabling them to access various benefits which includes financial support, subsidies, tax exemptions, and easier access to credit.
Registration process of MSMEs is done by the Udyam Registration portal, simplifying the process for entrepreneurs and businesses. MSME registration increases credibility of business by making them eligible for government schemes, priority sector lending and lower interest rates.
