Registration Process in 2025

The Karnataka Labour Department manages this registration. The process is now available fully online. This shift has made compliance faster and easier for employers.

Application Submission

The owner or employer must file an application within 30 days of starting operations. Application is submitted through the official labour department portal.

Information to Provide

The form asks for business name, type of activity, number of employees, employer details, and address of establishment.

Attach Documents

All required documents must be uploaded in scanned form. Offline, self-attested copies are also accepted if someone prefers physical submission.

Fee Payment

Fee depends on the number of employees in the establishment. Payment is made online via net banking, card, or UPI.

Review by Authority

The labour inspector verifies the application and attached documents. In some cases, a site inspection may also be done.

Grant of Registration Certificate

Once approved, a digital certificate of registration is issued. This certificate must be displayed in the premises.

The following documents are generally required in Karnataka:

  • Identity proof of employer (Aadhaar, PAN or voter ID)
  • Address proof of employer (ration card, utility bill)
  • Address proof of establishment (rental deed, property tax receipt or electricity bill)
  • Certificate of incorporation or partnership deed
  • Details of employees including number and designation
  • PAN card of business (if applicable)
  • Passport size photographs of employer or manager

Without complete documents, application may be rejected.

Fee Structure in 2025

The registration fee is based on the number of employees. Below are updated fee slabs in Karnataka:

0 to 10 ₹250 – ₹500
11 to 20 ₹1000 – ₹2000
21 to 50 ₹3000 – ₹5000
51 to 100 ₹6000 – ₹8000
Above 100 ₹10,000 – ₹15,000

Annual renewal fees also apply. Delayed renewal may attract penalties.
