Documents Required for PSARA License Uttar Pradesh

Private security has become essential across India, especially in a growing state like Uttar Pradesh. From residential complexes to corporate offices, the demand for licensed private security agencies is on the rise. But to run a lawful security agency, you need a PSARA License. This license, issued under the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act, 2005 ensures that the agency operates with trained personnel, abides by set rules, and maintains transparency in its operations

Knowing what are the documents required for a PSARA License in UP? is the first step towards running a compliant and profitable security business. This article simplifies every document and step required—clearly, legally, and in a way that’s easy to understand

What Is a PSARA License?

The PSARA License allows a private agency to provide security services legally in India. The license is mandatory under Indian law and ensures that only credible agencies offer security personnel for both private and public sectors. In Uttar Pradesh, the licensing authority is the Home Department of the state government

To get this license, the agency must submit specific documents, train its guards, and meet certain financial and organizational requirements

Types of PSARA Licenses Based on Jurisdiction

Before we move to documentation, it helps to know the kinds of licenses available:

  1. District-wise License – For agencies operating in one district.
  2. State-wise License – For those offering services across Uttar Pradesh
  3. National License – For multi-state operations, but handled individually through respective states

In UP, most new applicants opt for the district or state-wise licenses
